Computational modelling of a solar desalination process using Aspen Plus
highlight_off
Solar-driven desalination harnesses solar energy to convert saline water into fresh, potable water, offering a sustainable solution for water scarcity, particularly in arid regions.
In this project you will work in the simulation of a solar desalination system using the Finite Volume Method, with the goal of understanding the heat and mass transfer phenomena involved in a solar collector.
- Determine the unit operations required for a solar desalination system, and implement them using the process modelling software Aspen Plus.
- Conduct a technoeconomic analysis of the proposed process to compare it with existing alternatives.
- Conduct a parametric analysis to understand the variables of interest involved in the process.
- Write a report describing the findings, to establish the baseline for the development of a journal article
